SAMATVAM = Equanimity; “Samatvam Yoga Uchyate” = Equanimity is Yoga; Bhagavad Gita, 2nd chapter. Its philosophy is “TO TRY TO PROVIDE AND ACHIEVE THE BEST OF EAST AND WEST”, towards honest, humane and holistic health care of highest possible quality to the highest possible quantity . The vision, goals and activities of SAMATVAM originated in the early 1980s [Phase I: New Delhi]. The current focus of SAMATVAM’s activities is in the field of DIABETES, ENDOCRINOLOGY AND METABOLISM. Patient care and public service activities in Bangalore began in October 1993, and since June 1995 [Phase II]
SAMATVAM is running two dedicated ENDOCRINOLOGY DIABETES CENTERS in Bangalore (Jayanagar and Indiranagar). Following immense encouragement from well wishers and benefactors, in August 2003, SAMATVAM has started its new [Phase IV] public service project “JNANA SANJEEVINI”, at JP Nagar, Phase 2, Bangalore. JNANA SANJEEVINI is a total health project, which hopes to scientifically combine and integrate both the physical and spiritual dimensions of health, towards human and societal good.
To further symbiotically strengthen and expand the public service activities, in 2005 collaboration was initiated with Asha Medical Foundation, to establish Samatvam Asha Medical Center in JP Nagar. The special strengths of SAMATVAM include merited faculty and staff, ongoing international collaborations and enrichment, and most importantly, sincerity and dedication in public service and human good [“service with devotion”].
UNIQUENESS: Medical industry currently is fiercely expensive and highly commercial enterprise, and SAMATVAM does not intend to [nor has the capacity to] compete with contemporary business ventures. What SAMATVAM aspires to submit to people and society in the years, decades and centuries ahead is: (a) UTMOST HONESTY, (b) RESPECT AND DIGNITY TO THE SUFFERING PEOPLE, (c) HIGHLY MERITED AND DEVOTED STUDENTS AND STAFF, and (d) HEALTH CARE OF HIGHEST POSSIBLE QUALITY TO THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE QUANTITY: “A TEMPLE(S) FOR HEALING AND LEARNING”, combining: (a) THE BEST OF EAST AND WEST, and (b) THE PRINCIPLES OF SCIENCE AND RELIGION. It does not want to be [and should not become] just one another commercial hospital in this world. Revered Mother Theresa and Missionaries of Charity, Madame Curie, Dr.Paul Ehrlich, and Dr.Yellapragada Subba Row, Dr.Ida Scudder and Christian Medical College, Vellore, and similar saints, scientists, physicians, and institutions of past and present, working for human and societal good, will serve as models, inspirations and guiding spirits.
